How a Trowelscape render works
Four real steps, usually no demolition, no showroom visit — from start to a before/after render, usually in under a minute.
1. Upload a photo
A clear, well-lit photo of the wall, floor, or countertop you want to preview — taken on your phone is fine. You'll mark the area you want to change in the next step; the AI model is guided by that mask but isn't guaranteed to leave every other pixel byte-for-byte identical.
2. Brush the surface
Paint over just the area you want to re-surface using the brush tool, with small/medium/large brush sizes and an undo. The AI focuses on the area you marked, but may adjust some details elsewhere in the photo — compare the result against your original before deciding.
3. Pick a color & finish
Choose from the real Topcret catalog — the same colors and finishes LUXE Surface Finishing installs, organized into the Timeless, Flora, Metals and Clay collections, each with matte, satin, or polished finish options.
4. Generate the render
Trowelscape sends your photo, mask, and chosen color/finish to an AI image model, which replaces only the masked area with a realistic application of that surface — matching the room's original lighting, shadows, and reflections. This typically takes under a minute. You get a before/after pair you can compare side by side and download.
A render is a preview, not a guarantee. It's meant to help you evaluate a color and finish choice — not a substitute for a physical Topcret sample under your own room's lighting, and not a promise that your specific substrate won't need prep work or limited demolition before installation. Your first 2 renders are free, with no account or login required. After that, Trowelscape asks for an email address to keep rendering — there's no further hard limit once you've given one, though rendering is rate-limited to prevent abuse. See how your photo and email are handled.
